Organized an event for a charity
Personal Development & Community

Why were you inspired to do this?

I had been part of a volunteer club in high school since my freshman year. Over the four years, I was involved in raising over $7000 for the building of a school in Kenya for 200 young schoolchildren. Each year, I was more intimitely involved than the last, and finally, in my senior year, I took the reins. It took months to plan the formal banquet event, and countless sleepless nights, near nervous breakdowns, and even a falling out with the caterer. In the end, though, through unfaltering partnership with my vice president and dedicated volunteers, the banquet was a great success.

What were 3 things you did to make this happen?

The support of the student body - dance performers, musicians, volunteers.

Teamwork with the vice-president, club volunteers, supervisors, and advisors.

Organizational skills in juggling various facets of the event.

How did you feel once you had accomplished this?

Relieved! With the exception of a disagreement with the caterer, the banquet event went smoothly. Hearing people tell me that it was well-organized, entertaining, and professional was the ultimate satisfaction. And I was glad I was able to communicate to an audience that we can all do our little part in touching lives around the globe.

I love how simply you put the 3 things to make this happen. Your event looks so elegant. In October I did a fashion show fundraiser and it was very hectic. Best wishes, keep the up the great work, and if you have time swing by my page.
