Study Spanish in Mexico
Travel & Leisure

Why were you inspired to do this?

I believe everyone should be multi-lingual. I for some reason had faith I would get there, and was not afraid to go alone or leave my job. I just decided that I wanted to speak Spanish and travel, so I set forth to do so.

What were 3 things you did to make this happen?

I believed I would get there. I had no money, no plan, but I had faith.

I went through a local University so I could put some student aid towards it (I don't recall that working, though). I got credits!

I planned and readied myself and studied spanish. When I got there, I gave up English whenever possible.

How did you feel once you had accomplished this?

I was a new person. I had seen a new world, seen a new version of myself, discovered values I hadn't known I'd had. It changed who I was and what I thought of myself.

Additional notes and tips:

I had no idea how I was going to pay for this. It turns out in the end, a good friend of mine saw that I couldn't pay and offered to pay for me. I thought that was nonsense-talk until he told me he was a multimillionaire.  I was pulling in about $8,000 a year and didn't even believe multimillionaires were real. It turned out I was hanging out with one all the time. In the end he did pay for me to go live in Cuernavaca, Mexico and go to school there for over three months. This story is how I know that anything is possible if you only believe it is, and that there are genuinely kind multimillionaires out there.
